Hunter Douglas window treatment cleaning

Hunter Douglas window treatments are designed to require minimal care and cleaning. You may want to dust or periodically vacuum your window treatments. Lightly dust most blinds, shades, sheers, shutters and window panels Do not use magnetic cleaners such as a dusting mitt on light-dimming fabrics. This will damage the light-dimming backing. Gently vacuum your treatments using the brush attachment on any vacuum cleaner using vertical strokes (most products) Do not use a brush attachment or long vertical strokes to vacuum Luminette^®Privacy Sheers this will crease the fabric Do not vacuum Architella^® Elan^® and Architella Elan Eclipse^® fabrics. A can of compressed air or a hair dryer (non-heat setting) to dust off selected window coverings.

Cleaning your outdoor screens

SunTex fabrics are backed with a 10-year limited warranty and are infused with Microban® antimicrobial technology for powerful, continuous product protection against mold and mildew. Mild soap and water can be used to clean dirt or debris Power-washing is unnecessary, but can be done on the lowest setting, be sure to avoid spraying water directly into the cassette Allow the fabric to dry before rolling it up

Custom Drapery

Cleaning your Custom Drapery

At least twice a year vacuum away any dust that may have gathered of the top of your treatments

Never wash or launder custom treatments, only spot clean

If you can easily remove your treatments you may use a dry cleaner who specializes in home furnishing

If your treatments are fixed or high up you may use an upholstery cleaning service, be sure they understand your specific needs and have experience with your particular fabric composition

Ask the dry cleaner or upholstery cleaning service to test an area on the back side of your treatment near the hem

Allow the wrinkles in the fabric to fall out over time, if you have a steam iron you may remove creases and wrinkles, use it sparingly

Never use an iron to press out wrinkles or creases

Awnings

Cleaning your Awning

Once a year you may need to clean your awning Dust and dirt debris can be easily removed with water from a standard water hose Heavily soiled fabric may need to be rubbed with a brush or a mild soap like Ivory or Woolite with lukewarm water Do not use detergents, unless it is specifically made for outdoor fabric Rinse the fabric thoroughly if mild soap was used, leftover dried soap on the fabric will leave white marks or a chalky residence Always allow your awning fabric to air dry completely before retracting Your awning’s joints are self-lubricating and the aluminum has a coated finish that does not require maintenance You may finish the need to lubricate the moving parts with dry silicone spray to maintain optimal quiet operation, do not spray the fabric The frame can be rinsed with a water hose and wiped dry with a soft cloth or terry towel.

Depending on the product, age and type of repair needed, there are several options available.

Dealer service fees* and shipping charges will apply

Depending on the product, a self-repair may be possible Hunter Douglas may be able to send you the parts free of charge along with repair instructions. Call 1-800-789-0331 for parts to be mailed directly to your home.

Basic repairs in the home may include: installation brackets, certain cord replacements, tassels, and valance clips

*Fabric Bin charges $95+ tax for Repair Service Calls to locations within a 30 mile radius and $195 + tax to locations outside of the 30 mile radius.

**Fabric Bin does provide 1 year of FREE service to clients who purchase from us no matter the radius.

IMPORTANT:

**Effective January 1, 2017 Fabric Bin amended their Terms & Conditions regarding Five Years of free service from the date a product was ordered for warranty issues to One Year of free service from the date of installation for any issue. Warranties for parts will remain the same as covered by the manufacturing company. Please note warranty repairs can be serviced by any dealer of your product.

Outdoor Repair

Fabric Bin provides repair services for outdoor screens and awnings we installed. Fabric Bin’s standard repair service fee is $95+ tax to locations within a 30 mile radius of our store and $195 for locations outside of the 30 mile radius.

Fabric Bin provides 1 year of FREE service to all products we install, no matter the distance.

Most parts are covered under the manufacturer’s warranties. See the below warranty information for more details.

COVERED (BY A LIFETIME LIMITED WARRANTY)

Hunter Douglas window fashion products are covered for defects in materials, workmanship or failure to operate for as long as the original retail purchaser owns the product (unless shorter periods are provided below)

All internal mechanisms.

Components and brackets.
Fabric delamination.
Operational cords for a full 7 years from the date of purchase.
Repairs and/or replacements will be made with like or similar parts or products.
Hunter Douglas motorization components are covered for 5 years from the date of purchase.

NOT COVERED (BY A LIFETIME LIMITED WARRANTY)

Any conditions caused by normal wear and tear.
Abuse, accidents, misuse or alterations to the product.
Exposure to the elements (sun damage, wind, water/ moisture) and discoloration or fading over time.
Failure to follow our instructions with respect to measurement, proper installation, cleaning or maintenance.
Shipping charges, cost of removal and reinstallation.

Fabric & Parts Warranty

10 YEAR FRAME GUARANTEE- Covers all awnings, screens and shades (some models come with expanded terms), The framework of the shading systems is guaranteed to function, under proper usage, for ten years from the original date of purchase.

5 YEAR POWDER COATED FRAME FINISH GUARANTEE- Covers all products, the powder coated frame finish on all of our products is guaranteed to be free of defects, under proper usage, for five years from the original date of purchase – see warranty for exclusions.

10 YEAR AWNING FABRIC GUARANTEE- This is a limited warranty that guarantees the fabric from becoming unserviceable (because of loss of strength or color) from normal exposure conditions e.g. mildew, sunlight, atmospheric chemicals, or rot, for a period of 10 years for most fabrics from the original date of purchase – see warranty for exclusions

10 YEAR SCREEN FABRIC GUARANTEE- This is a limited warranty that guarantees the fabric from becoming unserviceable (because of loss of strength or color) from normal exposure conditions e.g. mildew, sunlight, atmospheric chemicals, or rot, for a period of up to 10 years for most fabrics from the original date of purchase – see warranty for exclusions

5 (Somfy) To 8 (Alpha) YEAR MOTOR, CONTROL & ELECTRONICS GUARANTEE (IF EQUIPPED) – Our motors, switches, electronics, and motor controls are guaranteed to be free of defects, under proper usage, for five years from the original date of purchase.
